Dyana: Well, I'm a celebrity makeup artist and content creator originally from Brooklyn. I've lived in LA, Austin, and now Charleston. Awesome! You've made quite a transition from being a makeup artist to working with brands and marketing. How has your approach to the creative industry evolved?Dyana: It's funny because I feel like I've been doing the influencer part throughout my entire career. Back when I did celebrity makeup, I would "pimp" my portfolio by showcasing the celebrities I worked with, which was like a free endorsement for the brands I wanted to try. When the influencer trend started, it felt like a natural transition. I could still do what I love but with a cute little pivot. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok allowed me to approach brands and promote their products authentically. That's fascinating! For aspiring creators, how do you manage your own identity and style while working with brands? Dyana: Research is key! I always make sure to know the product inside out so that I can speak authentically about it on camera. It's important to avoid sounding like you're reading from a script. I also believe in using the product and showing real results. Filming and editing play a significant role too. Having enough footage and utilizing editing software like CapCut helps me create engaging content. Reaching out to other creators and building engagement with my audience are vital steps too. Feedback and consistency are everything. Absolutely! Authenticity and engagement are crucial. How do you approach giving honest reviews while maintaining trust with your audience? Dyana: Trust is everything, so if I don't like a product, I either give it back or decline the partnership. I'm transparent with my audience. Sometimes I'll ask them for their opinion on a product I'm not crazy about. But when I love a product, I go all out. I do thorough research, show before and after results, and make sure my audience knows why it's worth trying. Building trust and engaging with my audience is the name of the game.
