We got you!&nbsp;&nbsp;It's great to see how many of you want to start a career in content creation and be their own bosses.&nbsp;&nbsp;Today we will talk about UGC (or user generated content): what it is, and how to create a UGC video. If you don’t know me, I'm Elena and I am on the Nomys Creators Partnerships team. Nomysh is a platform that connects brands and creators, making it easier for creators to have a stable income with content creation, find deals, and takes care of all the legal and admin like invoicing and contracts.&nbsp;&nbsp;I am also a UGC creator myself, so I'm glad I can jump in and help you all create the best content.&nbsp;&nbsp;Let's start with the basics.&nbsp;What is UGC?User generated content (UGC) is brand specific social media content, created by users for users, that brands can use on their social ad campaigns and connect with their audience in a genuine way. Usually it is mostly videos, but it can also be testimonials, reviews, pictures, whatever you can do to review a product.&nbsp;What is the difference between UGC and influencer content?UGC, and influencer content are incredibly different. Brands can hire an influencer to create content for them, but what they’re really paying for is the influencer’s audience. It's not really about the content or how well the video is made, but it's actually more about the following and the audience.&nbsp;UGC, on the other hand, is brand-focussed and product-focussed content. Brands are paying for your content and not for your following. Everyone can be a UGC creator: you don't need a big following, you don’t need to post on your socials, and you don't need expensive cameras. UGC content is less refined (it doesn't have to be high-quality as influencer content is), it is a genuine review of a product, and that is characterized by more engaging visuals, VoiceOver and a lot of editing.&nbsp;Setting UpAll you need is your smartphone and a tripod…we don’t want any shaky images or see your arm reaching in the shot.So the first thing that we are going to focus on is your set up, starting with your background. You need to find a space that is clean and neat. We don't want to have any mess, chaos nor any other branding and distractions visible. It has to be an easily replicable background because sometimes brands might ask you to share additional shots, or provide additional content after you've submitted it, so you must be able to re-create the environment of your first shot to create continuity with the rest of the video.&nbsp;Once you find your background, you need to focus on your light. We don't want to have any pixelated images. We want to have a quality image that is good, and it's nice to watch. Ideally you want to in natural daylight, but if you cannot, then you can use a ring light on any other source of light that is going to make your shot bright and high quality.Recap: to set up you need a clean background, a good light and a tripod.&nbsp;The VideoNow that you’re all set up, let’s build the actual content.Any UGC video is made of three main parts:1. Hook2. Problem/Solution aka the Core3. CTA (Call To Action)&nbsp;The first part is the hook, which is what makes you want to watch the video and not scroll away. It is what you do or say in the first 3 to 5 seconds that is going to make people stop and want to watch your video. It can be verbal or visual: a verbal hook is what you say in this short amount of time. We all are familiar with ‘Three ways to’ or ‘How to’ or ‘Stop scrolling’. These are verbal hooks: catchy phrases that boost curiosity and makes your audience stop scrolling and actually listen to you.A hook can also be visual: what you do in the first 3-5 seconds of the video. To have a visual hook, you need to have a lot of movement going on, strong facial expressions, and fast editing, i.e. several shots in a very short time frame.&nbsp;&nbsp;The second part is presenting the problem and providing a solution, which is the core message of the video. It's super important that the current message of your video comes across as natural and genuine as possible. From your script to your body language, you have to be confident and raise the camera, be relaxed and act as if you were talking to your best friend showing them something that you really like. Pay extra attention to your tone and try not to be monotone. Try to emphasize the keywords, speak up, open your mouth when you talk, and enunciate the words properly. Give different emotions throughout the video at half the listeners remember what you're saying.Remember to take filler shots, product shots and various different shots from the main one. This will give the video visual engagement, it will make it more visually appealing for the audience, and they will want to keep watching, not get distracted or scroll away. You want to have a main shot and then some filler shots to alternate with your main.&nbsp;Finally a call to action, which is what you want people to do after watching your video.&nbsp;It can be as simple as ‘sign up now’, or ‘download here’.&nbsp;The challenge is not to make it too obvious or salesy. Remember you're talking to your friend.&nbsp;Some creators sparkle✨ their call to actions throughout the video, so they don't have a fixed section of the video dedicated to the call to action. While they showcase the features/benefits of the product, they also&nbsp;mention its name and how to get the product. Hence, they don't need a&nbsp;salesy call to action.&nbsp;How do you Submit your Content?So you finished your video and now you have to send it to your client. File everything! Keep every shot you took, especially the extra hooks: you might be asked to change the editing or some detail.Provide a pre-edited version of the video that includes the voiceover (if needed).If you are a Nomysh creator, or you signed up on Nomysh, all you have to do is upload it to your personal portfolio.
